Aug 28, 2023Washington potato grower reappointed to agricultural advisory commitee
A U.S. potato grower has been reappointed to the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Fruits and Vegetables.
Matt Harris of the Washington State Potato Commission joins National Potato Council CEO Kam Quarles, whose current term has not expired, on the committee.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Trade Representative Katherine Tai announced the appointment of 130 private-sector representatives to serve on seven agricultural trade advisory committees last week.
The new group joined 70 existing committee members whose terms have not expired.
The advisory committee system was created by Congress in 1974 to ensure that U.S. trade policy and trade negotiating objectives adequately reflect the country’s public- and private-sector interests.
