New IPC ad drives home importance of ‘Grown in Idaho’ seal

The Idaho Potato Commission’s latest television commercial drives home a cornerstone organizational message: Make sure you’re serving potatoes with the Grown in Idaho seal.

In the ad, which debuted during a Boise State football game Sept. 9, a mom invites her family to enjoy potatoes fresh from her garden. The father asks if her garden is in Idaho; she replies, “No, it’s in my backyard,”; and chaos, including smashed plates and dropped dentures, ensues as the family pet scampers out the doggy door to avoid the fallout.

“The commercial underscores the most important message we communicate in our marketing programs: You need to look for the ‘Grown in Idaho’ seal to ensure the potatoes you’re purchasing are genuine Idaho potatoes,” Jamey Higham, IPC president and CEO, said in a news release. “Based on the feedback we are receiving, we scored a touchdown.”

The ad will begin airing nationwide next month. The IPC television campaign will run through March 31, 2024.
