Nov 8, 2023Potato researcher begins term as agriculture dean at Canadian university
Potato researcher Gefu Wang-Pruski began a one-year term as acting dean and principal, Faculty of Agriculture, at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, on Oct. 30.
Wang-Pruski is the chair of the Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences department within the Faculty of Agriculture.
She has been a faculty member since 1999.
Wang-Pruski served as dean of Overseas Education College, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, in China for three years.
A well-known potato scientist within North America, her research interests involve agriculture, agri-food and potato breeding and genomics, according to a news release.
In 2008, she was awarded a Research Excellence Award from then-Nova Scotia Agricultural College. She holds a degree in Biology from Nan Kai University in China and a Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Alberta.
