WPC adds Tuberosum Technologies as newest sustaining partner

The World Potato Congress has named potato research and development company Tuberosum Technologies its newest Silver Sustaining Partner.

In addition to its own breeding program in Canada, Tuberosum has contracted programs with private breeders in the Netherlands and Chile to generate new, improved genetics for emerging and innovative potato markets, according to a news release.

Tuberoseum’s primary focus is to create varieties with higher yields, more nutrients and increased resistance to abiotic stresses, according to its website.

“We are excited to have such a global-minded potato research and development company join our sustaining partnership,” Peter VanderZaag, WPC president, said in the release.

WPC partners include platinum, gold and silver levels. Partnership provides corporate benefits to sustaining partners and fiscal support to WPC, which uses funds to promote elements of its biennial congress and to improve service to subscribers, according to the WPC website.
