Jul 11, 2024Restaurants serving up deep-fried deals for National French Fry Day
TGIF will have an added twist tomorrow.
July 12 is National French Fry Day, and several national restaurant chains are giving customers reason to celebrate.
In 2022, fast-food chains Checkers and Rally’s petitioned the National Day Calendar to move the cooked-up holiday, previously celebrated on July 13, to the second Friday in July so that it would always fall on a Friday.
Promotions in honor of the concocted celebration promise popularity. Thousands of voters on online site Ranker gave french fries the No. 1 nod as both Best Deep Fried Food and the Most Delicious Ways to Eat Potatoes, while a graphic shared by Potatoes USA in recognition of National Fry Day lists french fries as America’s No. 1 potato dish, side dish and takeout dish.
Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King and Jack in the Box are among restaurants giving fry lovers a chance to prolong the festivities, offering free Friday fries for the rest of 2024.
A sampling of Fry Day deals:
- Wendy’s is offering a free order of any size fries with purchase. The deal, redeemable through the Wendy’s app, began in April and runs through the remainder of the year.
- McDonald’s customers can get a free order of fries with any purchase of $1 or more through its app on Fridays through Dec. 27. On July 13, the fast-food giant is giving away a free order of any-sized fries through its app.
- Members of Burger King’s Royal Perks loyalty program can get a free order of fries of any size with a purchase of $1 or more tomorrow and every Friday for the rest of the year.
- Members of KFC’s rewards loyalty program can get a free order of Secret Recipe fries of any size with any online purchase tomorrow.
- Arby’s rewards loyalty program members can get any size order of fries for $1 throughout July.
- This weekend, members of Checkers and Rally’s rewards program can get a free regular-size order of fully loaded fries with any purchase in the rewards app.
