MPB hosts 30th annual meeting

The Maine Potato Board (MPB) held its 30th annual dinner meeting on July 14 at Farm Park in Fort Fairfield, Maine. Nearly 300 growers, family members and industry supporters attended.

Steve Belyea, PMIF program manager, was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 35 years of providing technical expertise and support to area growers.

Ryan Crane was recognized as the MPB 2016 Young Farmer of the Year, and the family of Jerry Flewelling and his son Bruce Flewelling, of Easton, were honored as the 2016 Farm Family of the Year. The Flewelling family currently encompasses the fourth, fifth and sixth generations to farm in Easton.

As a final award, MPB outgoing president Gregg Garrison presented the President’s Award to his father, Wayne Garrison, in reflection and appreciation for life lessons learned.
