Dutch seed company Solynta has named a new sales lead in charge of expanding the commercial introduction of its true potato seeds worldwide.
Mark Hoogendoorn began his new role Jan. 1. He was previously responsible for the sales of seed technologies at Incotec in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) market.

“In recent years, we have begun introducing our true potato seeds to potato growers and seed distributors across various regions worldwide,” Joost van Regteren, Solynta chief commercial officer, said in a news release.
“Collaborating closely with vegetable seed distributors and potato growers, we are launching our innovative potato varieties in areas with strong market potential, in alignment with our ambitious company strategy. We are thrilled by the significant progress our company has made and are confident that Mark’s expertise and skills will drive sales and forge new partnerships globally.
“As an accomplished sales manager with extensive experience in the seed industry, he possesses the qualities needed to strengthen our position as the leader in true potato seeds.”
True potato seeds, from potato fruits, and are less likely than traditional seed tubers to carry disease or spoil in transit and are less expensive to store.
“Solynta’s hybrid breeding technology revolutionizes agriculture by enabling potato growers to sustainably cultivate nutritious potatoes from true potato seeds rather than relying on seed tubers from previous harvests,” Hoogendoorn said. “This innovative approach allows for the continuous development of improved potato varieties with desirable traits such as high disease resistance, increased yields and reduced reliance on chemicals.
“Solynta’s true potato seeds provide growers with a sustainable solution to meet the rising demand for quality starting material, address global challenges like water scarcity, and promote healthy nutrition.”
