Two potato field days will take place this week in the Pacific Northwest.
The Oregon State Potato Field Day is set for Wednesday, while the Washington State Potato Field Day will take place Thursday.
The OSU event will begin at 7:45 a.m. at the Hermiston Agriculture Research and Extension Center. Topics will include potato soil health, breeding and variety development updates, genetics and genomics research, plant pathology program updates, and potato nitrogen management.
WSU’s potato field day program will begin at 9 a.m. at the Othello Research Farm. John Lundeen, Potatoes USA director of research, will discuss national potato research, while session topics will include crop water use, pathogen detection, WSU research updates, pest management updates, and nematode control.
