Jan 21, 2025North Dakota packer unveils new logo to mark milestone anniversary
NoKota Packers, a supplier of red potatoes based in Buxton, North Dakota, has launched a new logo to mark its 45th anniversary.
Founded in 1979, NoKota Packers shipped 220,000 cwt of potatoes and employed 18 employees in their first season. The company now has doubled in size, with nine growing operations shipping more than 600,000 cwt, according to a news release.
“For 45 years, we have been known to provide the best spuds in our area,” Carissa Olsen, NoKota Packers president and CEO, said in the release. “We decided that celebrating this important milestone is the right time to reveal a new logo that reflects the new ownership and the advancements NoKota Packers has made.
“We simplified the look and added Buxton, N.D., to honor our location in the Red River Valley. The maroon/red color honors the tradition of our red potatoes, the green signifies the plant and sustainability, and the updated font gives it a modern look and feel.”
In 2024 — a year in which the company reported average and above-average potato yields and quality after several dry years — NoKota Packers completed production improvements including upgrading its 20-year-old packaging line, adding a robotic stacker to the end of the two main packing lines, and updating the optical sorter on the wash line.
The third-generation company plans more investments in technology and automation in the future, according to the release.
NoKota Packers, a Fresh Solutions Network national partner, serves segments of the potato industry including wholesale, food service and re-packers.
