Dec 11, 2019Minnesota seed potato association selects Paschke as promotions director
Potato industry veteran Perry Paschke has been hired by the Minnesota Certified Seed Potato Growers Association to serve as promotions director.
Paschke’s career started as a teenager under renowned seed grower Earl Mallinger. Paschke went on to serve as a potato inspector for 30 years the Minnesota Department of Agriculture before retiring in 2016. He also played a key role in postharvest grow-outs in Florida and Hawaii.
Paschke’s was praised for his extensive “institutional knowledge” of the Minnesota certified seed industry by association president Randy Schmidt.
“Minnesota certified seed potato growers have been supplying high-quality seed distributed throughout North America for over 100 years,” Schmidt said via a press release. “In 2019, growers certified over 75 different varieties.”
Paschke will work toward promoting Minnesota-grown certified seed and be visible at potato- and agriculture-related events and trade shows.
