Jul 16, 2024Northeast potato farming operations join forces in strategic partnership
An eighth-generation Pennsylvania potato farming company has formed a strategic partnership with a fifth-generation New England potato farm.
The Masser Family of Companies (MFC), a potato grower, packer and shipper founded in 1970 in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, will provide supply chain management services, including sales, logistics, procurement and marketing, to Szawlowksi Potato Farms (SWAZ), according to a news release.
The collaboration will streamline supply chain operations in the Northeast while increasing the companies’ production and product offerings, according to the release.
“Our partnership with the Szawlowski family-owned and operated potato farm is exciting as we look to (pair) our year-round potato program with a recognized brand in the Northeast,” Bob Meek, chief revenue officer at Masser Family of Companies, said in the release. “This reinforces our commitment to supporting local family farms to provide quality produce to the market.”
Founded in 1910, SWAZ is a potato grower, packer and shipper in Hatfield, Massachusetts.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the Masser Family of Companies to enhance the quality and range of products available and ensure continuity in both our business and on our farm,” Diane Szawlowski Mullins, SWAZ director of sales, marketing and public relations, said. “Partnering with a company known for innovation and excellence is truly exciting, and we look forward to what this melding of two legacy potato farms will bring to our local customers in the Northeast.”
