Jan 20, 2025Grants to support development of potato varieties for commercial production
USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is offering a grant program supporting potato research projects focused on varietal development of potato varieties for commercial production.
This is a region-based, integrated research and Extension program that focuses on the development, testing and release of superior commercial potato varieties using classical breeding and advanced molecular and biotechnological approaches, according to the organization.
The deadline for applications is March 20. A technical assistance webinar will be scheduled soon, according to NIFA.
Eligible organizations include 1862, 1890 and 1994 land-grand institutions.
Estimated total program funding is $3.7 million, with awards ranging from $500,000 to $1.5 million.
