Crop insurance deadlines approaching for growers in three states

The deadline for growers in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin to apply for or make changes to their existing crop insurance for spring-planted crops is approaching.

The deadline for crops including potatoes, onions, cabbage, dry beans, processing beans, dry peas and corn is March 15.

Growers also have until March 15 to apply for or make changes to their Whole-Farm Revenue Protection policy through the USDA’s Risk Management Agency. Micro Farm Program policy applications or changes are due by April 15.

Growers may choose from coverage options including yield coverage, revenue protection and area risk plans.

Crop insurance is sold and delivered through private crop insurance agents. A list of crop insurance agents is available at all USDA Service Centers and online at the RMA Agent Locator.

More information is available online at rma.usda.gov.
