BioSafe Systems has added a new biostimulant to its portfolio. Plant-derived BioPhyter uses a strain of the fungi Beauveria bassiana, which kills a range of insects, to colonize plants from root to leaf.
This systemic endophytic relationship supports crop vitality by improving key physiological functions within the plant, according to a news release.
BioPhyter strengthens plants’ vascular systems by maximizing nutrient distribution, photosynthesis and structural integrity to improve ability to withstand both abiotic and biotic stressors, according to the company.
BioPhyter also supports integrated pest management strategies through natural anti-herbivory effects without negatively impacting beneficial insects.
“This new product maximizes the nutrient superhighway, delivering bioavailable nutrients to every leaf, stem, and flower, making it an ideal partner with LIVENTIATM soil microbes,” Jeff Kline, BioSafe Systems vice president of sales, said in the release. “BioPhyter empowers growers in agricultural and horticultural settings with a dynamic new tool to complement their pest and disease programs, fostering stronger, healthier crops.”
