OSU researcher dies

Don Horneck, an Oregon State University (OSU) Extension agronomist, died on September 28, 2014.

Horneck specialized in soil fertility and crop production at the OSU Hermiston Agricultural Research and Extension Center.

He graduated from Monmouth College in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and geology. He earned a master’s degree in agronomy and soils from the University of Illinois in 1984 and a Ph.D. in soil science from Oregon State University in 1993.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, or the Faith Presbyterian Church in Hermiston, Oregon.
