Vignolo Farms/Top Brass install Tesla batteries on solar field

Along with table and wine grapes, Vignolo Farms/Top Brass Marketing grows conventional and organic table-stock potatoes in central California. A few years ago, the company installed a 1 GW solar field to reduce its energy dependency for its produce coolers. To increase the solar field’s efficiency, the farm and produce marketing organization recently installed storage batteries made by Tesla, the automobile manufacturer and technology company.

According to Vignolo Farms/Top Brass Marketing, they are continuing to find ways to increase their innovation, efficiency and stewardship over land and natural resources. Brett Dixon, president of Vignolo Farms/Top Brass Marketing said the solar energy field covers around 80 percent of the company’s coolers energy demands, and the batteries will decrease their energy demand on California’s electrical grid.

Vignolo Farms/Top Brass Marketing grows and markets conventional red, yellow, purple and white potatoes. Organic red, yellow and russet potatoes are also produced, and Dixon said the company will be expanding its certified organic acreage for both its potato and grape production.
