MPIC & PGMI position open

Applications are being accepted until June 8 by the Michigan Potato Industry Commission (MPIC) and the Potato Growers of Michigan, Inc., for the position of executive director and manager of the two organizations.
The leadership position requires an individual who will develop and promote the potato industry through research, promotion, advertising, market expansion, development of new markets, education and the development and dissemination of market and industry information. Serving as the spokesperson for MPIC, the executive director works with numerous individuals and experts in the agriculture industry, government and academia at both the state and national levels. Reporting to the PGMI board of directors, the position also represents PGMI membership in regulatory, legislative and environmental matters.
The job description calls for an individual with “significant experience in the agricultural industry” who is a strong leader with top public relations skills. Travel is required and the job may require evening or weekend work.
