The Washington State Potato Co
mmission (WSPC) has hired Matthew Blua as its director of industry outreach.
Blua’s role will focus on providing technical advice and assistance to the industry regarding pest and plant diagnostics, food safety and sustainability programs. He will oversee various research projects funded by the WSPC and coordinate efforts with other research institutions to develop key educational information.
Blua previously worked at the University of California-Riverside as a research scientist specializing in insects that spread pathogens. He earned his Ph.D. at UC-Riverside.
