The Washington State Potato Commission elected Bob Halverson, of Toppenish, as chairman beginning July 1, 2012. Halverson replaced Darrin Morrison as commission chairman.
Also elected to the WSPC executive committee are Jared Balcom, of Pasco, 1st vice chair; Nelson Cox, of Warden, 2nd vice chair; Mike Dodds, of Moses Lake, secretary; and Nick Johnson, of Othello, treasurer.
The WSPC is governed by 15 commissioners from the potato industry. Nine are grower-elected positions and five are appointed by the commissioners. In addition, a representative from the Washington State Department of Agriculture sits on the board.
