World Potato Congress appoints ambassador, chooses emcee

A thought leader in agro-ecological sustainability has been appointed a World Potato Congress ambassador and an emcee chosen for the 12th annual event, to be held June 23-26 in Adelaide, Australia.

Anika Molesworth, who has a Ph.D. in international agriculture and environmental management, is a renowned authority on rural climate solutions, particularly the role of farmers in mitigating climate change.

World Potato Congress and logo for its June 2024 Congress session in Australia “Sustainability isn’t just a choice; it’s a responsibility,” Molesworth said in a news release. “As an ambassador for the World Potato Congress, I’m excited to be part of the conversation on how we can drive positive change and create a more sustainable future for agriculture and our planet.

“By adopting climate-smart farming practices, we pave the way for a resilient food future.”

Molesworth will deliver a keynote presentation addressing the importance of potatoes in sustainable agriculture and their role in mitigating climate change.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Anika Molesworth as a Congress ambassador for the World Potato Congress,” Nigel Crump. Interim chair of Potatoes Australia, said in the release. “Her expertise and passion for sustainable agriculture align perfectly with our goals.

“Potatoes play a vital role in sustainable food production, and we believe Anika’s leadership will greatly contribute to advancing the conversation on rural climate solutions.”

Adelaide radio announcer Leith Forrest will serve as event emcee. He has worked with WPC’s 2024 charity partner, Little Heroes Foundation, for 20 years.
