Workshops offer solar leasing information to PNW landowners

Two opportunities remain to participate in American Farmland Trust (AFT) workshops aimed at helping Pacific Northwest agricultural landowners explore solar leasing.

A 2021 solar futures study by the U.S. Department of Energy projected that, by 2050, 90% of solar energy will come from rural utility scale projects. The two-hour AFT workshop will help participants understand the scale of solar projects and the phases of the solar leasing process, as well as how to weigh financial opportunities, losses and risks.

AFT has also collaborated with Farm Commons, a nonprofit organization providing farmers with legal advice, to write Solar Leasing: A Guide for Agricultural Landowners in the Pacific Northwest.

Workshops will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon and on March 4 from 10 a.m. until noon. To register, visit American Farmland Trust’s website. Call 360-726-2676 with questions.
