Washington State University to host free no-till symposium

The Washington State University Extension and Oregon Tilth will hold a Zoom virtual symposium on no-till agriculture Feb. 24-25, 2021.

Extension invites growers to “join innovative producers and researchers to explore how organic reduced tillage is being implemented,” according to a promo for the event.

The event is free. Registration is required.

Speakers include:

  • Jen Aron, Blue Raven Farm, Corbett, Oregon.
  • Natalie Lounsbury, Ph.D. Candidate, University of New Hampshire.
  • Other Pacific Northwest researchers and producers.

Part one of this two-part symposium will focus on a systems approach to reduced tillage in organic agriculture and novel cover crop planting and termination strategies.

Part two will focus on tarping (occulation), shallow disturbance and other novel approaches to controlling weeds and succeeding with reduced-tillage in organic systems.
