Varnimo-IF biopesticide now OMRI listed for certified organic food production

Varnimo-IF, a microbial in-furrow biopesticide against nematodes that also promotes plant growth, achieved the Organic Material Research Institute (OMRI) listing for certified organic food production, according to USDA National Organic Program regulations.

Varnimo-IF bio-pesticide provides early-season protection for potatoes, soybeans and corn from the detrimental effects caused by plant parasitic nematodes and the soilborne pathogen Rhizoctonia solani. Varnimo-IF acts by colonizing the roots of plants, which in turn reduces nematode reproduction.

It also helps:

  • Establish a vigorous root system that can result in enhanced yield potential
  • Increase the growth of more uniform foliage
  • Encourage stronger plant development

“Varnimo-IF offers protection from parasitic nematodes, which can help both conventional and certified organic growers to achieve higher yields,'” said Don Pucillo, president of LidoChem. “Varnimo-IF is another mode of action to add to our Performance Nutrition crop management programs.”

Performance Nutrition provides environmentally friendly, applicator-safe crop fertility and disease management programs and products that enable farmers to grow stronger crops and increase yields, according to the company.

Varnimo-IF is marketed by Performance Nutrition, a division of LidoChem, based in Hazlet, New Jersey.
