Utz recalls 9 varieties of potato chips over potential salmonella contamination
Utz Quality Foods has issued a voluntary recall in the U.S. of certain varieties of Zapp’s and Dirty brand potato chips after notification that a seasoning containing dry milk powder may contain salmonella.
Utz Quality Foods has issued a voluntary recall in the U.S. of certain varieties of Zapp’s and Dirty brand potato chips after notification that a seasoning containing dry milk powder may contain salmonella.
The powder was sourced from California Dairies Inc. and supplied by a third party, according to a news release. Affected seasoning batches tested negative for salmonella, but Utz said it is recalling the nine varieties out of an abundance of caution based on the ingredient supplier’s recall.
To date, there have been no complaints of illness reported to Utz in connection with the recalled products, sold at retail stores nationwide.
No other products produced by Utz Quality Foods are included in this recall, posted May 4 on the Food and Drug Administration’s website.
