USDA seeking nominees for National Potato Promotion Board

The USDA is seeking nominees to fill 73 producer and importer member seats on the National Potato Promotion Board. The nominating process will conclude Aug. 15, 2019. USDA will appoint individuals to succeed members whose terms expire Feb. 29, 2020.

Potato producers in various states nominate producer members. Importers nominate importer members. For more information about the nomination process, contact Potatoes USA Administrative Operations Assistant Carla Rehfeld at (303) 369-7783. You may also contact Kelly Robertson, marketing specialist, Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), USDA, at (202)720-4818 or [email protected].

The National Potato Promotion Board is industry-funded and supports the domestic and international marketing and promotion of U.S. potatoes. Since 1966, Congress has authorized 22 industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool their resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities. AMS provides oversight, paid for by industry assessments, which helps ensure fiscal accountability and program integrity.

More information about the board is available on the AMS National Potato Promotion Board page and on the board’s website, Potatoesusa.com.
