USDA commodity procurement program includes purchase of potatoes

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is taking action to assist farmers in response to what it called trade damage from unjustified retaliation. As part of those actions, USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service announced the food purchase of up to $44,505,000 under the authority of Section 5 of the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) Charter Act for distribution to various food nutrition assistance programs.

The purchases include, but are not limited to, canned sliced white potatoes, fresh russets, fresh 5- and 10-pound bags of round whites and white dehydrated potatoes.
