USDA ARS funds 26 potato research proposals

USDA’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) has awarded funding for 26 potato research proposals totaling nearly $1.2 million addressing diseases, pest control and postharvest disorders.

Funded projects (.pdf) include research into genetic diversity of silver scurf and assessment of genetic factors involved in fungicide resistance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; nematode control at Oregon State University and Texas A&M; and the application of artificial intelligence to quantify potato processing quality and disease symptomology at Washington State University, Michigan State University, Colorado State University, Texas A&M and the University of Idaho.

Each project demonstrates cooperative research between USDA-ARS researchers and partners at state agricultural experiment stations and other institutions with active potato research programs.
