Apr 2, 2025University of Idaho survey seeks commercial grower insight
The University of Idaho is seeking insights from commercial potato growers about seed certification and different tolerance levels for Potato Virus Y (PVY) in seed potatoes.
The research is being conducted under the auspices of Christopher McIntosh, department head and professor in the College of Agricultural & Life Sciences’  Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology.
The survey asks growers about challenges in maintaining potato crop yield and quality and the balance between meeting certification standards and managing costs, among other questions.
The survey is available online.
The voluntary study aims to assess preferences of commercial growers in industry and production practices. No identifying information will be associated with responses, and the anonymous data, once analyzed, may be presented publicly as well as submitted for journal publication, according to the university.
Respondents will have the chance to enter a drawing for a $50 gift card.
