U.S. Potato Production Increases Offset Decreases in Canada

The 2009 fall potato production for the U.S. and Canada combined is estimated at 494 million cwt., up 2 percent from 2008, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The U.S. fall potato production is estimated at 392 million cwt., 3 percent higher than 2008. Canada’s potato growers harvested 102 million cwt., down 1 percent from 2008.
