U.S. – Colombia trade pact

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk announced that the U.S.-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement will go into effect on May 15, 2012. As a result, Colombia’s current 20 percent tariff on U.S. potato products, including fries, dehydrated potatoes, and potato chips, will be immediately eliminated. The Colombian market for U.S. frozen potatoes is estimated to be between $5 to 10 million per year following the implementation of the trade agreement.
