U.S. chief agricultural negotiator to address trade issues at Potato Expo

Trade is a hot topic in the potato industry and at the 2024 Potato Expo, and a newly announced event speaker will address issues related to U.S. agricultural interests abroad.

Doug McKalip, U.S. chief agricultural negotiator, will speak on Jan. 11 at the expo in Austin, Texas. McKalip will join National Potato Council CEO Kam Quarles for a conversation beginning at 10:20 a.m.

The expo is set for Jan. 10-11 at the Austin Convention Center.

McKalip will address expanding the U.S.’s foreign marketplace reach and maximizing foreign trade impact.

Before joining the Office of the United States Trade Representative, McKalip served as senior advisor to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on agricultural matters relating to trade, national security, animal and plant health regulations, and other domestic and international issues.

He also served in a leadership capacity in the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Biotechnology Regulatory Services.
