Apr 3, 2024Trio of speakers to join World Potato Congress in June
An agronomy specialist, an entomologist and a food marketing professor will be featured speakers at the World Potato Congress, set for June 23-26 in Adelaide, Australia.
Ryan Barrett is a research and agronomy specialist with the Prince Edward Island Potato Board in Canada. He coordinates local and national research projects and conducts on-farm trials with PEI potato growers.
Barrett has worked with the PEI Potato Board since 2012. A professional agrologist, he serves as president of the PEI Institute of Agrologists and is a certified crop advisor for the Atlantic provinces. He also serves on the board of directors for the Potato Association of America and as chair of the Canadian Potato Council’s Research Working Group.
Entomologist Paul Horne has owned and directed IPM Technologies Pty Ltd, based in Hurstbridge, Victoria, Australia, since 1996.He has worked on integrated pest management in potato crops throughout Australia for more than 30 years and on IPM in potato crops in New Zealand and Yemen.
Horne has written several books on insects and IPM as well as two guidebooks to insects in potato crops in Australia.
David Hughes is a professor emeritus of food marketing at Imperial College London. Having lived and worked in four continents, he’s now based in the United Kingdom after co-owning a fresh produce business in Florida.
