Total potato acres planted up slightly in 2019

2019 Potato acres planted and harvested are on par with 2018 in both Idaho and Washington, but are down slightly in Oregon, according to the USDA.

Total acres planted in the U.S. for potatoes in 2019 thus far is an estimated 967,500, a slight increase from last year. The estimate is from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Idaho

All potato acres planted in Idaho in 2019 are estimated at 315,000 acres, unchanged from the previous year. Harvested area, at 315,000 acres, is also unchanged from the previous year.

Oregon

In Oregon, growers planted an estimated 45,000 acres of potatoes, down 1,000 acres from last year. Harvested area, at 45,000 acres, is also down 1,000 acres from last year.

Washington

Washington growers planted an estimated 165,000 acres of potatoes, unchanged from the previous year. Harvested area, at 165,000 acres, is unchanged from 2018.
