Mar 28, 2019Lawsuit filed against TGI Friday’s for selling potato skins snack chips with no potato skins
A New York City resident has filed a lawsuit against TGI Friday’s for selling misleading potato skin snack chips.
Solange Troncoso’s lawsuit claims TGI Friday’s “Potato Skins” chips contain potato flakes and starch, but not skins, which dupes consumers, including herself, into buying an inferior product. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court’s Southern District of New York court.
Troncoso cites the Idaho Potato Commission and other entities “inside and outside” of the potato industry as touting the nutritional value of potato skins. She is seeking unspecified damages.
The situation was first reported by Reuters and numerous other news outlets.
