Research project seeks common potato pest
The University of Minnesota Crookston is seeking Colorado potato beetles to conduct resistance bioassays.
Calling all Colorado potato beetles! If you have any summer adult versions of the common potato pest, Ian MacRae’s University of Minnesota Crookston’s lab wants them.
The lab is conducting resistance bioassays as part of a project to determine the most effective chemistry in various production areas. Insecticide resistance varies by location.
The testing typically needs about 1,500 adults from a location to complete all six chemical modes of action being tested. Researchers can collect from several fields in an area if necessary.
If you’ve got some beetles to unload, contact MacRae at imacrae@umn.edu.
