Potatoes USA seeking nominations to fill 33 board seats

Nominations for Potatoes USA 2025 board members are open until Aug. 15. Nominees are sought to fill a total of 33 seats.

All state potato organizations will receive information and materials to begin nominating interested growers, according to a new release. Appointed growers will be seated on the board at the 2025 spring meeting in Denver, to be held March 10-12, 2025.

The following seats are open: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming, and a public member.

Potatoes USA is the nation’s potato research and promotion organization providing the industry with ideas, information, tools and inspiration to achieve common goals.

Board member requirements include:

  • Communicate production region interests to the board and relay the board’s message to his or her farming community.
  • Attend board meetings throughout term: spring (March 10-12, 2025); summer (early August); and winter: (January, alongside Potato Expo).
  • Be active in the potato farming community.
  • Be visible in community work, participate in local government, cultural or business affairs.
  • Be willing to represent and communicate with constituents on a regular basis.
  • Support Potatoes USA programs in his/her area.
  • Speak to grower groups, newspaper reporters and interested parties about Potatoes USA programs and relate the value of the board to all growers.
