May 27, 2025Potato procurer signs on as Global Potato Summit 2025 title sponsor
Mantra Agri Solutions, a joint venture between Indian snack food brand Haldiram and South Korean manufacturing conglomerate SK Group, has joined the Global Potato Summit 2025 as its title sponsor.
The summit will be held Dec. 11-12 at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Delhi, followed by live farm demonstrations on Dec. 13. The event will focus on farming, storage, processing, packaging, machinery and exports, according to a news release. Government and trade organizations along with companies from more than 15 countries are expected to participate.
The field event will feature demonstrations of modern farming practices, seed varieties, mechanization and postharvest technologies.
India is the second-largest potato-producing country in the world, behind China, with a frozen potato products market valued at $1.77 billion in 2023, according to the release. The market is forecast to reach $7.23 billion by 2032.
“With the Asia-Pacific region projected to account for 57% of global market growth, countries like China, India and Bangladesh are leading in production,” M. B. Naqvi, chief coordinator of the Global Potato Summit and CEO of Media Today Group, said in the release. “The market dynamics in the APAC region are further shaped by regional consumption patterns. Potatoes are among the most widely consumed foods in many Asian countries, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, China and Myanmar, as well as in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.”
Mantra Agri Solutions, which specializes in supplying processing-grade potatoes for food manufacturers and export, is addressing the growing need for an organized and scalable sourcing platform for potatoes in India, according to the release. The company’s procurement model connects directly with farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations and aggregators.
Mantra, with integrated cold storage and processing facilities and a logistics network spanning India, produces high-quality seed through biotechnology and provides agronomy support to improve crop yield and quality.
In 2024–25, Mantra procured more than 350,000 metric tonnes (more than 771 million pounds) of potatoes, working with 10,000-plus farmers, to become India’s largest supplier of processing-grade potatoes, according to the release.
“We have recently launched a joint venture with the SK Group under the banner of Mantra Agri Solutions,” Anand Agarwal, managing director of Haldiram Snacks Food, said. “This strategic partnership brings together our deep-rooted agricultural expertise. and Haldiram’s role will further consolidate global leadership in food by building an integrated, quality-driven potato value chain.”
