Potato LEAF accepting leadership institute applications until Oct. 17

The Potato Leadership, Education, and Advancement Foundation (Potato LEAF) is accepting applications for the 2026 Leadership Institute until Oct. 17.

The institute provides tools to help growers and industry members develop as leaders and motivate them to commit their time and energy to the betterment of the U.S. potato industry, according to a statement.

During the 10-day program, participants are provided an industry overview and exposed to challenges beyond the production sector while gaining insight into the roles of state and national organizations in maintaining a positive business climate for potato growers.

The 2026 program will take place in Florida before participants travel to Washington, D.C., for the National Potato Council’s Washington Summit Feb. 18-27.

The institute was expanded in 2025 to include a capstone project requiring participants to participate in a virtual session (June 2026) and complete a team project to be presented virtually to the Potato LEAF Board of Directors (August 2026). The top project team(s) will be invited to present their project(s) during the Potato Expo 2027.

Additional information and applications can be found at pleaf.org/leadership-institute-1. All applications must be submitted electronically by Oct. 17. Confirmation of participation will be sent by Nov. 14.
