Potato Expo 2021 to be virtual only

Potato Expo 2021 will be a virtual-only platform, event organizer the National Potato Council (NPC) announced Oct. 29. It will take place Jan. 5-7, 2021.

The NPC had hoped to have a hybrid in-person/virtual Potato Expo in January, but ongoing COVID-19 concerns and feedback from prospective attendees led to the decision to go virtual only.

“In light of on-going developments with COVID-19 and after thoughtful discussions with the executive committee and supporting companies, and through feedback via attendee surveys, NPC has decided to hold the Potato Expo 2021 as a Virtual Experience, held exclusively online,” the NPC said through a statement. “We believe this is the safest approach for the well-being of our attendees, along with their families, farms and colleagues.”

The event design has been reimagined so, in this exclusively virtual format, it continues to be the place where the potato community can “COME TOGETHER, RIGHT NOW. OVER POTATOES!”

“We are excited about the opportunities a virtual event offers in providing insights into new technology and innovation in the potato industry and facilitate the engagement and connections the Potato Expo is known for,” the NPC statement said. “Attendees will hear from leaders, connect with peers, and explore business solutions to address unique challenges, and prepare their organization for a new level of success.”

Networking is a cornerstone of the Potato Expo and attendees will be able to partake in interactive and engaging experiences through a virtual conference platform. In addition, an interactive exhibit hall will allow exhibitors to showcase their products and services and connect with attendees, all while from the comfort and safety of their home or office.

The conference agenda will now be spread out over three tight days to ensure that content is delivered in more digestible segments. Sessions will be easily accessible on-demand for conference attendees to view at their own convenience through the end of March.

Registration opens Monday, Nov. 2. Visit potato-expo.com or email [email protected] if you have questions about attending, or [email protected] with questions on exhibiting or sponsoring.
