Potato Days UK draws 100 exhibitors, 2,000 participants

Potato Days UK, held in early September in Lincolnshire, featured live harvesting demonstrations, crop trial plots and almost 100 exhibitors.

The event, which took place Sept. 4-5 at Dyson Farming’s Nocton Farm, drew around 2,000 participants during the two days.

“This is the first time in over 20 years that British farmers and growers have had the opportunity to see a field days event like this and watch different machines in action,” Mark Taylor, chair of industry group GB Potatoes, told potatopro.com. “Visitors were able to experience 24 harvesting sessions on each day, showing both two- and four-row harvesters working in varied conditions.”

AVR, Dewulf and Downs demonstrated handling lines to clean, sort and load the newly harvested crop, processed by McCain after leaving the field.

Ten crop trial plots showcased new potato varieties, agronomy innovations and new sustainable production technology.

“This was the best opportunity we have had to showcase drip irrigation in the field ever, and it generated lots of interest,” Andrew Howesman of Howesman Agriculture told potatopro.com. “I’m looking forward to future Potato Days events.”

The next Potato Days UK is set for September 2026.
