Potato-centric fast food chain revived in UK

A defunct potato-centric fast food chain is being revived by a longtime growing firm in the UK.

Spudulike, which debuted in 1974 but ceased operations in July 2019, was acquired by Albert Bartlett and reopened with an updated menu in September. Albert Bartlett, one of the UK’s most prominent potato operations and known for its Rooster variety, has expanded its potatoes to Canada, France and the U.S. in recent years.

Spudulike’s new menu focuses on baked potatoes filled with any number of options, ranging from the simplistic — potato and butter — to the extravagant, such as potato and chicken tikka or potato and prawn cocktail. The menu also features a variety of sides — such as coleslaw, garlic bread and cottage cheese with chives — desserts and drinks, including coffee options beyond just the standard regular and decaf.

Spudulike reopened with eight locations in Great Britain.
