PEI Potato Board Elects New Chairman

The Prince Edward Island Potato Board has a new executive as a result of its Dec. 4 board of directors meeting. Boyd Rose of Elmira, was elected as the new chairman of the board. Rose began a three year term as the seed producer representative for the Montague-Souris District in 2007 and served as vice chairman of the board over the past year. Rose and his family operate R.A. Rose and Sons Ltd., a potato farming operation and a milk transport business.

Wayne Diamond of Winsloe was elected vice chairman. He and his brother Blaine operate Diamondale Farms, and Wayne also is the seed producer representative for the Charlottetown district. Both Rose and Diamand are past winners of the Soil Conservationist of the Year Award for practicing conservation and protecting Island soil and water resources.

Peter Griffin was elected secretary-treasurer for 2008-2009. Griffin also is serving as the tablestock producer director for the West Prince district. He and his brother John operate W.P. Griffin Inc., a family owned farming business in Elmsdale.
