Northland Potatoes debuts new booth at first-ever Global Produce & Floral Show

After two years of COVID cancellations, the first ever Global Produce & Floral Show was held last week in Orlando, Florida. The show replaces the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Show that our growers association attended for a half-century. The new name came about after the PMA merged with United Fresh last year.

Northland Potato Growers Association (formerly NPPGA) also made its debut since rebranding and wowed attendees with a newly designed booth created by Ten Acre Marketing.

The booth design resembled an ice cream shop focusing on red and yellow potato flavors. At first glance, many attendees thought they were lining up for ice cream samples. However, they were in for much more of a treat. Red River Valley Chef Heather Schneider developed two recipes featuring red and yellow mashed potatoes. The samples were served in paper cones resembling ice cream cones and topped with “sprinkles” (potato toppings).

Over 1,500 samples were handed out at the two-day event and there was overwhelmingly positive feedback on both the fresh and playful booth design and the samples. One attendee returned the second day and said, “I dreamed about your potatoes last night!”

Nine Red River Valley fresh packing sheds were present at the trade show, along with Northland Potatoes’ Jacey Kuersteiner and Donavon Johnson. Also assisting were representatives from Ten Acre Marketing and Chef Heather Schneider.

Funds for the bigger and better show this year came from large specialty crop block grants awarded by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture.
