Sara Corey, 23, of Monticello, was selected by the Maine Potato Board as the 2013 Young Farmer of the Year.
Corey is the first woman to receive the recognition and is the youngest recipient of the honor.
Corey is the daughter of Daniel and Amy Corey. She earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Husson University in May 2012.
She is the director of agronomy and variety development for Corey Farms. Corey is a member of the Maine Potato Board’s research committee as well as a member of the Central Aroostook Young Farmers organization.
