Lamb Weston closing plant in Argentina, consolidating regional operations

Lamb Weston is closing its Munro, Argentina plant and consolidating Latin American regional production to its new facility in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

The approximately 100 employees affected by the Munro closure will be provided with severance packages in line with local requirements and regulations, according to a news release.

Lamb Weston logo“These actions are part of our broader strategy to improve profitability and enhance operational efficiency across our global manufacturing network,” Sylvia Wilks, Lamb Weston chief supply chain officer, said in a news release.

“Effectively managing costs across our supply chain is critical to delivering value to customers, while enabling us to prioritize investments that modernize physical assets and keep operations efficient, resilient and ready for future growth.”
The company also plans to temporarily curtail a line in the Netherlands, according to the release.

Lamb Weston, a supplier of frozen potato products to retailers worldwide, opened its 30,000-square-foot production facility in Mar del Plata last October. The plant has the capacity to process 200 million pounds of potatoes annually, producing more than 100 varieties of frozen potato products, according to the company.
