ISDA, UI Extension sponsor pesticide stewardship conference

University of Idaho Extension and the Idaho State Department of Agriculture will sponsor the Pesticide Stewardship Conference: Managing Drift February 1-2 in Boise.

The conference will focus on management of pesticide drift, which is the expansion of the targeted spray area caused by wind or other factors. Topics also will include agricultural insect pest management, adjuvants and pesticide performance, and herbicides and resistant weeds.

Bob Wolf, a retired Kansas State University Extension specialist in application technology, will be the February 1 lunch keynote speaker. He conducted a research and extension program focused on chemical and pesticide application with a focus on nozzle technology.

Speakers will include subject specialists from the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, Oregon State University, University of Idaho, Utah State University and Washington State University.

Other topics include downy brome management, pollinator protection and a panel of media representatives to discuss public perceptions and pesticide stewardship.

The conference will be held at the Riverside Hotel from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. February 1 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. February 2.

The registration fee is $175 through Tuesday, January 24, and $200 after. Ten pesticide recertification credits will be available to those attending.
