Insecticide granted EPA approval for all agricultural crops

An insecticide powered by hydrocolloid technology has been approved for all EPA crop groups, including agricultural and controlled environment agriculture.

Attune Agriculture’s Entrapment uses the physics of rheology to engulf, trap and immobilize pests using hydrocolloid technology, according to a news release. The product has a zero-day preharvest interval, no limit on spray interval or number of applications and a low potential for resistance development, according to the release.

An EPA-approved list of expanded pests the insecticide can be used to control includes spotted wing drosophila on soft-skinned fruits and spotted lanternfly in vineyards.

“Entrapment provides dependable control on a broad range of pests, even obscure species, as well as application flexibility for growers,” Ed Quattlebaum, Attune Agriculture director of product development, said in the release.

Designed to be used as a stand-alone product, or in combination or rotation with traditional chemical insecticides, the Entrapment product line features four formulations, one of which is OMRI listed.
