Idaho to co-sponsor USDA outreach audit training

The USDA in conjunction with the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) and the Idaho Grower Shippers Association (IGSA) will offer two 3-hour produce good agricultural practices (GAPs) harmonized food safety standard training sessions. Potato shippers can attend a session focused on post-harvest harmonized standards at 9 a.m., and potato growers can attend a session focused on pre-harvest harmonized standards at 1 p.m. Both meetings will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at the IPC and IGSA offices in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Ken Petersen, chief of the audit services branch with the specialty crops division of USDA Agricultural Marketing Service, will facilitate both sessions.

For more information, shippers can call Shawn Boyle with the IGSA at 208-529-4400, or e-mail him at [email protected]. Growers can call Travis Blacker with the IPC at 208-360-9560, or e-mail him at [email protected].
