Idaho Potato Conference, Eastern Idaho Ag Expo going virtual in 2021

The annual in-person Eastern Idaho Ag Expo, which takes place at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena and traditionally coincides with the on-campus Idaho Potato Conference, will not take place.

The cancellation is related to COVID, although not directly. While it was announced back in August that the Idaho Potato Conference would not be held in person due to the unavailability of the student union, plans for the ag expo were still in place. Delay of the Idaho State University football team’s season has led to Holt Arena not being available in January, when the ag expo was to happened.

“We have been informed by Idaho State University that we will not be able to hold the 2021 Eastern Idaho Ag Expo at Holt Arena,” Spectra Productions announced via email. “The Idaho State Bengal football team will begin practicing mid-January for the Big Sky conference spring football season and the team’s schedule will prevent us from blocking the amount of time needed to hold the ag expo.”

Instead, Idaho Potato Conference and Eastern Idaho Ag Show will be combined into a virtual format in 2021. The dual event will take place live Jan. 19-21, with each day to include four hours of educational content provided by the University of Idaho as part of the potato conference.
