The National Potato Council (NPC) has awarded Leon and Lance Hapka of HFC, Inc., from Halma, Minnesota, the 2017 Environmental Stewardship Award.
Each year NPC recognizes a farming operation that has developed innovative approaches to safeguarding the environmental resources on their farm. Wind erosion is a challenge on the farm, said Lance Hapka.
“We try to always have something growing and we always have material on top of the soil to control the soil from blowing,” Haka said.
The Hapka family was presented with their award at the 2018 Annual Meeting Awards Banquet in Orlando, Florida.
